What we collect

Your name, email address, mobile number, date of birth and gender when you create an account. What you tell our AI assistant about your matter. The names of the parties needed to run a conflict check. Any documents you choose to upload.

Your identity document

We scan your HKID or passport only to confirm you are a real, identifiable person. We read your name and date of birth from it, and then delete the image. We do not keep a copy, and we do not store your identity card or passport number in readable form.

Where a law firm needs your identity document number for its own client identification obligations, the firm collects it from you directly at the point of engagement.

Who sees your information

Law firms see the names of the parties and the type of matter in order to run a conflict check. Only a firm that has cleared that check, and expressly accepted the consequences of doing so, receives your account of what happened.

A firm that declines, finds a conflict, or chooses not to proceed has the party names removed from its environment.

Third parties who process your data

We use third-party providers to run the platform: cloud hosting, database and authentication services, and an artificial intelligence provider that powers our assistant. This means your case details are processed on servers outside Hong Kong. We choose providers that do not use your information to train their models.

Your rights

Under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance you may ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. You can do this from Settings, or by writing to us. Note that a case already sent to a law firm remains with that firm under its own record-keeping duties.

Legal Store connects you with Hong Kong law firms. The legal work itself is always done by a firm you choose and engage directly.
